Man, 42, dies after being attacked by ‘fighting dog’ as woman blames him | United Kingdom | News

A man has died after an alleged dog attack in east London, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police were called to Shirley Road, Stratford, at 4.53am on Wednesday after reports the man had been seriously injured, according to Scotland Yard.

The man, aged 42, was taken to hospital where he died. His family has been informed and an autopsy will take place soon.

Leanne McDonnell, 32, of Shirley Road, Stratford, was charged with possessing a dangerously out of control dog causing injury resulting in death.

She is also accused of having failed in her duty as responsible for an animal to ensure its well-being and of having had custody of a fighting dog.

Additionally, Ms McDonnell was charged with three counts of possessing a dangerously out of control dog causing no injury, in relation to a separate incident on November 18.

Scotland Yard said she had been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The dog involved was seized by police.
