All 12 new UK stations to open in 2025 – from Yorkshire to Cardiff | United Kingdom | News
Several new stations are expected to open across the UK in 2025 as part of efforts to improve rail connectivity and restore services to areas poorly served by public transport.
These developments align with wider projects to improve rail transport across the country, including improving accessibility, upgrading lines and upgrading stations.
One of them is Moseley Village station. The station is part of the long-awaited redevelopment of the Camp Hill Line in Birmingham, which also includes Kings Heath and Pineapple Road stations.
These stations were due to open in December 2024. However, the project has been delayed again and the new stations at Willenhall and Darlaston, due to be completed in early 2025, will also be delayed until the end of next year or early 2026, reports Birmingham live.
Moseley Village station will be located near its historic counterpart between Woodbridge Road and St. Mary’s Row. It will feature modern amenities such as stair and lift access, secure cycle storage and passenger assistance points.
Another highly anticipated station is Butetown station in Cardiff. The construction of the new Butetown station is part of South Wales Metro’s ambitious Bay Line transformation project.
Located to the north of Butetown, the new twin-platform station is designed to upgrade the region’s transport infrastructure. Meanwhile, Cardiff Bay station is undergoing significant improvements, including new signage and improved customer information systems.
Plans to build the twin-platform station, which will be located north of Cardiff Bay station along Lloyd George Avenue, have been confirmed in 2022. Services are expected to begin operating at the site in 2025 or 2026, reports Wales online.
