Big problem is bothering visitors to famous British city as promise is made to fix it | United Kingdom | News

A popular seaside town in Wales is putting off holidaymakers due to a huge problem which appears to be getting worse at the height of summer.

Llandudno is a must-see destination for stays in the United Kingdom. However, visitors all have the same complaint: the city’s digital infrastructure.

Phone service in the area is so poor that residents have reported being unable to make a simple phone call, Live reporting from North Walesbusinesses struggling to operate due to failed online transactions and websites not being updated.

Mobile giants are under increasing pressure to resolve the problem after years of frustration. Although other parts of the country are seeing significant improvements in telephone services, Llandudno is lagging behind.

The problem quickly worsens during the summer tourist season when an influx of visitors descends on the city. Local mobile networks are overloaded and people can no longer use their phones.

The tourism economy is also affected, as vacationers also cannot research where to eat, shop or travel.

Jon Merrick, of Llandudno landowner Mostyn Estates, said he had attended two meetings with EE and Vodafone organized by the local Senedd member – with “positive” updates on the situation.

He wrote on a forum that Vodafone was erecting a mast on a building in the city, although he did not give the exact location of this site.

Mr Merrick added that an offer had been made for them to use the Victoria Shopping Center car park due to its central location.

The Local said Vodafone was considering reviewing this issue but was also looking at two other sites in Llandudno.

This could allow customers to start benefiting from much-needed improvements in 4G services before long.

Mr Merrick also explained his positive meeting with EE, as the mobile company said it was looking at smaller sites for three or four masts which it hopes to have in place by summer 2025.

This means that by next year’s peak season, the city could finally have a digital infrastructure to cope with the annual influx of visitors.
