Eli Lilly invests $3 billion to expand Wisconsin factory to meet demand from Mounjaro and Zepbound

Eli Lilly spends another $3 billion to expand manufacturing as drugmaker seeks to fuel production of some blockbuster drugs and future products.

Lilly announced Thursday that it will expand a plant in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, that it purchased earlier this year, and that the investment would help meet growing demand for injectable products like its diabetes drugs and obesity, Mounjaro and Related to Zep.

These drugs brought a combined revenue of $4.4 billion for Lilly in the third quarter of this year.

The pharmaceutical manufacturer plans to begin construction on the expansion next year.

Lilly also announced additional plans for a multibillion-dollar manufacturing expansion near its Indianapolis headquarters earlier this year.

Eli Lilly and Co. said Thursday it has planned more than $23 billion to build, expand or acquire manufacturing sites around the world since 2020.
