Woman killed, three injured in stabbing attack in Israel

JERUSALEM — Israeli police and medics said a woman in her 60s was killed and three other people were injured in a stabbing attack in a Tel Aviv suburb.

Police said the attacker was a West Bank resident, suggesting Sunday’s attack was carried out by a Palestinian militant. They added that the attacker had been “neutralized” and that a search was underway for other suspects in Holon, where the stabbings took place.

Tensions have escalated in the region since the Hamas attack began on October 7. the war in Gaza last year. Israel is preparing for retaliation after the Senior Hezbollah official killed in a strike in Lebanon and Hamas’ top political leader during an attack in the Iranian capital last week.

Police initially reported four people injured. Israeli emergency services Magen David Adom later confirmed that the woman had died. A 70-year-old man was in critical condition, a 68-year-old man in serious condition and a 26-year-old man in moderate condition.
