Police have so far been unable to identify a woman who died in Lancashire and are now appealing for help from the public.

The woman is white, aged around 40-50, with short, black, curly hair and a very slim build. She was found dead on Dawson Lane, Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley.

Lancashire Police said she was around 5ft 4in (1.63m) tall and had no obvious scars or tattoos. They confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious. The woman was found at 11.44am on Friday.

Police were unable to access her mobile phone data and so released images of her clothes in the hope that they could be recognised by someone who knows the woman.

She wore a Peter Storm rain jacket, navy waterproof cargo pants, a pink Asics sports t-shirt, orange and black Crane shoes, black Ronhill gloves and a rose gold-tone Lipsy watch.

A police spokesman said: “We believe the woman was sleeping outside and was dressed for the elements.

“She also had a phone in her possession, but officers were unable to extract any data from it that could have helped identify her.

“His fingerprints are not in our database either.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact them.

They said: “We are appealing to anyone who may be missing a loved one who may match this woman’s description to contact us. Similarly, if anyone has any information that could assist our enquiries, please contact us on 101 quoting LC-20240823-0651.”
