Parliament LIVE: Chaos at Westminster as IT systems crash | UK | News
Chaos struck Westminster this morning with reports that the Houses of Parliament’s computer systems had been destroyed, sparking fears of cyber attacks.
People heading to Parliament this morning are facing manual checks, causing delays at the entrance to the building.
Parliament is currently in recess. It adjourned on 20 July and will sit again on 2 September. During this period, neither the House of Commons nor the House of Lords meet to conduct business.
The announcement comes as Keir Starmer travels to Berlin to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The prime minister said the new cooperation treaty with Germany was part of an attempt to “turn the page on Brexit”.
Downing Street said the deal would cover areas such as energy security, technology, defence and illegal immigration. It added that it would also cover access to both countries’ markets and trade across the North Sea.
