Mum recounts horrific moment she was stung ‘108 times’ by swarm of wasps | UK | News

A woman has shared the terrifying moment she was attacked by a swarm of “angry wasps” while spending a day out with her mother and daughter in a Birmingham park.

In a social media post, the woman recounted how the nightmare unfolded when the trio entered Sutton Park, Birmingham, on the morning of September 18.

BirminghamLive reports The woman said she received so many bites that she had to be taken to hospital, while her own mother needed an “epinephrine shot”, also known as adrenaline, which is used to treat severe allergic reactions.

Posting on Facebook, the mum revealed: “My mum and I wanted to say a huge thank you to the people who helped us at Sutton Park on Wednesday morning.

“We were walking from the Jamboree Stone towards Banners Gate, through trees and grass on a path, and unfortunately we came across a path of angry wasps.

“Kind runners stopped to help and called an ambulance and other walkers stopped and helped take care of my little girl and walk back to where the wasps were to find my bag and phone that I had lost while frantically trying to get the wasps off my daughter and then me.

“They even got stung, so I’m incredibly grateful for your support and help.”

She continued: “I ended up having to go to hospital for steroids and antihistamines and we counted 108 injections on me (not including the ones on my head that we can’t see properly under my hair).

“And my mom is also covered in bites. I’m so grateful that these people called an ambulance and were able to walk it to our location to give my mom an epinephrine shot.”

The woman asked those who helped her to “make themselves known” so she could send them a small gift as a thank you.

She added: “If you can make yourself known on this post I will send you a private message as I would like to send you a small gift to say thank you. We are very grateful for your help.”

According to charity Allergy UK, Most people are allergic to either wasp or bee stings, but it is “unusual to be allergic to both.”

The study adds: “Although most reactions to bee and wasp stings are mild, serious allergic reactions can sometimes occur following a bee or wasp sting. However, deaths from these stings are extremely rare.”
