Jeremy Clarkson has launched a scathing attack on Labour leader and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, calling him a “hard-core communist” and warning his policies could lead to meat bans in the future.

The outspoken TV personality hit out at Starmer’s approach to governance, particularly criticising his stance on smoking and private enterprise.

Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed that he is recently considering banning smoking in outdoor spaces such as pub gardens, with a possible smoking ban extended to all outdoor public places.

This would make it illegal to smoke outside a restaurant, or even in the smoking area of ​​a nightclub.

Asked about the reports, Starmer said: “My starting point is to remind everyone that over 80,000 people lose their lives every year because of smoking. That’s a preventable death, it’s a huge burden on the NHS and, of course, it’s a burden on the taxpayer.”

“So yes, we will make decisions in this area, more details will be revealed, but this is a series of preventable deaths and we need to take action to reduce the burden on the NHS and the taxpayer.”

In a recent column, Clarkson expressed his contempt for Starmer’s proposed smoking ban, which he called a “Stalinist decree.” He argued that such a ban reflects a broader authoritarian streak in Starmer that disregards individual choice and freedom.

“Sir Starmer doesn’t like smoking so he’s going to ban it,” Clarkson wrote, before adding sarcastically: “and then, to make this Stalinist decree sound reasonable, he says that illnesses caused by smoking cost the NHS a huge amount of money every year.”

Clarkson then derided Starmer’s economic policies, questioning the feasibility of his plans to increase public spending and fund green energy projects.

He suggested that Starmer’s approach would push wealthy individuals out of the country, harming the economy rather than helping it.

“If he does that, most of the rich people are going to get screwed. So instead of getting 45 percent of their income, he’s going to get nothing,” Clarkson noted.

The former Top Gear presenter also accused Starmer of harbouring anti-private enterprise sentiment, comparing him to a modern version of Harold Wilson, whom Clarkson called “the woke Wilson”.

He argued that under Starmer, the state would take control of key industries and assets, leading to inefficiencies and mismanagement.

“If the state ran WH Smith, the newspapers would never arrive in the morning,” Clarkson joked.

Clarkson also speculated that Starmer’s next target could be the meat industry, joking that he would soon change the notices outside his pub to warn customers.

“Starmer is going to ban smoking on site and if you want a Lancashire hotpot you better hurry up and place your order because it won’t be long before he bans meat too.”
