The courageous wife of the British Army The officer who was brutally stabbed multiple times on Tuesday has been photographed with her husband for the first time.
Eileen Teeton heroically fought off her husband’s alleged attacker and screamed for help during the attack on Lt Col Mark Teeton just outside a British army barracks on Tuesday. Her screams for help were captured on a neighbour’s Ring doorbell camera.
It was reported that Eileen called out to soldiers and neighbors, asking for help for her husband from his fellow servicemen. Lt. Col. Teeton suffered “injuries consistent with “stab wounds”, Police say the horrific incident happened just 200 metres from Brompton barracks.
The alleged assault took place around 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, and the suspect was apprehended about 25 minutes later.
THE Mirror Teeton, who works as a course leader at the headquarters of the 1st Regiment of the Royal Military Engineering School, is currently in a “serious but stable” condition after being stabbed, prosecutors allege, by an individual wielding a “large knife or machete” who then fled on a moped.
The brave wife of Lt Col Teeton, who fought off her attacker and called for help, is also a member of the Brompton and Invicta Military Wives Choir, and previously appeared on Lorraine in 2020, to promote the comedy film made about their organisation – Military Wives.
Friends, meanwhile, have praised his character. One anonymous friend told the Daily Mail: “Eileen is a lovely lady and was in the military wives choir. She still comes to the community centre.
“As soon as I heard that the woman had jumped to save her husband, I immediately thought of her, she was the one who came to my mind.”
Anthony Esan, 24, is accused of repeatedly stabbing Lt. Col. Teeton. Esan, who was arrested near his Rochester home, is charged with carrying an offensive weapon in public.
He has not yet filed a plea.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday wearing a grey T-shirt, and his next appearance at Maidstone Crown Court is scheduled for August 22.
When initially asked to confirm his name and date of birth, the defendant asked: “Why?”
Esan is due to stand trial at Maidstone Crown Court on August 22.
Prosecutor Rajni Prashar told the court that a passer-by called emergency services: “A member of the public called 999 to report that a man had been stabbed. It was later reported that the victim was a soldier in uniform.”
Prashar detailed the chilling attack, revealing that an attacker was seen “running behind” the army officer and then “pulled the soldier to the ground”, stabbing him “repeatedly” before fleeing the scene on a moped.
Army chief General Sir Roly Walker expressed horror at the “horrific and unprovoked” attack, while Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expressed shock, saying he was “shocked and appalled”.
In an act of charity earlier this year in June, Teeton managed to raise almost £2,500 for veterans’ mental health charity Combat Stress by taking part in the Normandy D-Day Challenge, as stated on his fundraising page.
Teeton, on his fundraising page, praised the “vital strides” the charity has made to help veterans and wrote a heartfelt message: “In honour of our ancestors as well as current service members who bravely fought to protect our way of life, I will be taking on the D-Day Challenge to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.”
Having joined the British Army in 2000, Colonel Teeton was rewarded for his service with a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 2018 after more than a dozen years.
His military career spans two decades, including a significant stint in the Department of Defense where he served as an engineering infrastructure planner and client representative.
