Elon Musk vows to ‘destroy the woke mind virus’ that ‘killed’ his son
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has publicly denounced gender-affirming care for minors, describing it as “evil” and claiming that he was deceived into consenting to his own son’s treatment. In a recent conversation with Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson, Musk shared his personal experience with his child, Xavier, who now identifies as Vivian Jenna Wilson.
Musk expressed that he felt “tricked” into signing documents allowing his son to undergo puberty blockers, stating that he was misled during a time of confusion amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. He claimed that he was told his son might commit suicide if he didn’t receive the treatment, a statement that Dr. Peterson vehemently disputed as a lie with no basis in evidence.
Dr. Peterson emphasized that reliable clinicians have never believed that gender dysphoria directly causes suicide, and that underlying depression and anxiety are the actual culprits. Musk agreed, stating that those promoting gender-affirming care for minors should face prison time for their actions.
Musk criticized the term “gender-affirming care” as a euphemism, claiming that puberty blockers are essentially “sterilization drugs” that were not clearly explained to him at the time of consent. He expressed grief and loss, stating that he feels like he “lost” his son to the “woke mind virus,” a term he has vowed to “destroy.”
Vivian Jenna Wilson, formerly known as Xavier Musk, came out as transgender in June 2022 and filed a legal request to change her name and adopt her mother’s last name, stating that she no longer wants to be related to her biological father in any way. Musk’s public stance against gender-affirming care has sparked controversy, with some accusing him of making the issue personal and divisive.
