Defending champions Italy to face Argentina in Davis Cup final in November

MADRID — Defending champions Italy will face Argentina in the first round of the Davis Cup Finals in November.

The quarter-final draw, which will take place on Thursday in Malaga, southern Spain, will also pit the United States against Australia, Germany against Canada and the Netherlands against Spain.

Italy, Spain, Canada and the United States were the seeded nations after win their groups last week, when qualifying took place in four different cities.

The winner of the Italy-Argentina match will face the United States or Australia in the semi-finals. The winner of the Germany-Canada match will face the Netherlands or Spain.

Italy won their first Davis Cup title since 1976 by beating Australia in last year’s final, which was also held in Malaga.
