A three-year-old boy died at a family party.
Police are now investigating his “unexpected” death after the toddler fell ill at Chris Evans’ CarFest in Overton, Hampshire, over the weekend.
It is believed he suffered a “medical episode” and could not be saved despite medical assistance. Emergency services attended the festival site at around 11pm on Saturday (August 24), according to reports.
The boy was taken to hospital where he died a short time later. Hampshire Police have launched an investigation following the tragedy.
CarFest said its on-site medical and security teams, with support from the NHS, attended the incident.
A police spokesperson said that shortly after 11pm on Saturday, August 24, officers were notified of a medical incident involving a three-year-old boy at CarFest in Overton.
They confirmed the child was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later. The spokesperson added: “The death is being treated as unexpected and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
A CarFest spokesperson said a “medical incident” had occurred on site and was being attended to by on-site medical and security teams, supported by the NHS. The patient was taken off-site to hospital.
CarFest was created by DJ and TV presenter Chris Evans to help raise money for children’s charities in Britain. It brings together car fans to see the fastest cars.
This year’s festival ran from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25 and was held on a family farm, according to the Hampshire Chronicle.
